Airborne Systems, part of Alchemy Partners have increased the size of their international
operations through the £17million acquisition of the Irvin Group. The Irvin group of companies
now join GQ Parachutes Limited, Aircraft Materials Limited and Para-Flite Incorporated, under
the umbrella of Airborne Systems.
In the UK, the acquisition will see the merger of Irvin Aerospace Limited and GQ Parachutes
Limited under the title IRVIN-GQ. The new name preserves the internationally established brand
names of both companies who have supplied parachutes and safety and survival equipment to the
international military and aerospace markets for over 65 years. Airborne Systems (UK) will
direct the operations of Irvin-GQ and Aircraft Materials Limited (AML).
The Irvin companies located in North America (Irvin Aerospace Incorporated and Irvin Aerospace
Canada Limited) will come together with Para-Flite Incorporated, under the direction of
Airborne Systems (North America). Para-Flite, established more than 30 years ago, is a world
leader in the design and manufacture of ram-air gliding parachutes for the military and
civilian markets.
Alchemy Partners ongoing ambition is to increase the size and scope of Airborne Systems and
has created a perfect commercial fit by bringing together several of the world's leading
parachute companies.
