Irvin-GQ awarded Naval Decoy enhancement contract by UK MOD - May 2002 |

In a joint venture activity with the UK Ministry of Defence, Irvin-GQ has commenced work on a multi-million pound enhancement programme for the DLF-3 Off-board Passive Naval Decoy System.
Recent developments in materials and manufacturing technology will be used to enhance the performance and robustness of the DLF-3 Decoy. The 30 month programme is part of a joint venture activity with the UK Ministry of Defence to develop the next generation of naval decoys.
MOOG Systems and Devenport Management Limited (DML) are major sub-contractors to Irvin-GQ for this programme.
DLF-3 is a rapid response, inflatable, passive radio frequency (RF), floating countermeasure system that is ship deployed and effective against radar homing missiles and surveillance radars. DLF-3 is the Primary Seduction Decoy for the UKs Royal Navy and is currently fitted to Type 22 and 23 Frigates and Type 42 Destroyers. In addition, the decoy is provisioned for on the UKs Future Destroyer , the Type 45.
